Since 1951, Hinson Galleries has been the standard for fine furniture and accessories in Columbus, Georgia and the Chattahoochee Valley. Exploring Hinson Galleries is like opening a book with many different stories. On one hand, it’s the tale of a couple and their two grown children, continuing a tradition begun by the late Robert LeGrand Hinson, Sr. in LaGrange, Georgia. At another level, it’s the collective stories of all the customers who come in, full of hopes for decorating or refurbishing their homes. They come in with ideas and tastes, always with budgets in mind. Once inside, customers can take advantage of the store’s complimentary design services, where one of several professionals can help take their dreams and make as many as possible come true.
The history of Hinson Galleries is rooted deep in the heritage of the South and middle Georgia. Originally, the business was located in what is now the Callaway Museum in LaGrange. LeGrand Hinson purchased the old LaGrange jail and converted the old Victorian building into a furniture store. He incorporated a concept of having entire rooms furnished as though you were walking into a dining room, living room, den, bedroom, or bathroom. This allowed people to get a great feel for how the furniture would actually look in their homes. Hinson Galleries still uses the same display format today.
The tradition of family participation in the business relies on the efforts of the family’s present generations – Robert Hinson, Jr. and his wife, Julie, and their two children, Jeanie Hinson Bross, and Robert Hinson, III. Being the third generation involved with the business, Jeanie and Bob are dedicated to seeing the quality, values, and service of Hinson Galleries continue into the future.
Now located in Columbus since 1951, Hinson Galleries has proudly served the area with exclusive lines that you will only find in their store. Setting the standard for furniture and interior elements such as oriental rugs, lamps, and fine art is a tradition that remains.Names like Henredon, Century, Hancock & Moore, Sherrill, Jonathan Charles and Theodore Alexander have established Hinson Galleries as the premier furniture store in the Columbus area.
According to the family philosophy, “Furniture is an investment – in many cases a lifetime investment. We understand the needs of our customers and as a home town based store we are in touch with the styles and tastes of the area. Hinson Galleries provides its top of the line furnishings at affordable prices. Seventy-five percent of what we sell is not the $10,000 bed. Everyday is a sale day. We continue to discount most lines up to forty percent everyday. Even special orders are available at the same discounted prices. Hinson Galleries understands the importance of comfort, style, and design, ensuring that its customers are happy with their choices and that their houses are made into homes. Good taste never goes out of style, and that good taste is a tradition at Hinson Galleries. The business retains many old-fashioned values such as family, quality, and customer service, but changes as the times necessitate. Meanwhile, you can always find Hinson Galleries, just as you have since 1951, at 1208 13th Avenue in Columbus, Georgia.
